Bellus Angelfish (Genicanthus bellus)
The Bellus Angelfish are a type of angelfish that displays sexual dimorphism.
Female Bellus Angelfish are an iridescent white with blue markings and a long black bar that extends from the gills to the tail. Their dorsal fins are also black but are highlighted with an orange and a bright blue-white trim.
Male Bellus Angelfish, on the other hand, do not have that black bar. Instead, they have a yellow bar that extends from the gills to the tail. They also remain iridescent white and blue in body, but instead of having dark dorsal fins, they have yellow dorsal fins.
Bellus Angelfish are hermaphroditic and can change their sex from female to male, and males can change back to females if there aren’t any female Belluses in the tank.
The best housing option for the Bellus Angelfish is a 125 gallon tank or larger with live rock for grazing and multiple hiding places. It is best to acclimate these angelfish with dim lighting, but they can adapt to intense lighting. Bellus Angelfish should be kept as female-male pairs or in small harems with one male and multiple females, but they should not be kept in male-male pairs due to territorial aggression.
The diet of the Bellus Angelfish should include: meaty items such as frozen brine shrimp, mysis, and frozen shrimp, spirulina, marine algae, and high-quality angelfish preparations
