Blue Girdled Angelfish (Pomacanthus navarchus) Majestic Angelfish
The Majestic Angelfish, also known as the Blue Girdled Angelfish, is yellow scaled with blue markings. It has a dark blue band or belt, highlighted with neon blue stripes, that covers the face and extends to the caudal fin.
These shy angels are one of the easier angelfish to keep. They require 180 gallon tanks or larger with hiding places and live rock for grazing. The Majestic Angelfish is not much of a reef dweller, considering it nips at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles. They generally do not harm small-polyped stony corals and noxious soft corals.
The diet of the Majestic Angelfish should include: vegetable matter, spirulina, marine algae, meaty items such as shaved mysis, frozen shrimp, and high-quality angelfish preparations containing sponges.
