  • Lieutenant Tangs are mostly tan with dark tan lines outlining their bodies. Their faces are lined with a light blue, and near the caudal fin, they have an eyespot. The eyespot is lined with a bright blue and so is the anal fin. Their gill covers are also colored with black and light blue.

The best environment for the Lieutenant Tang is 180 gallon tank or larger with live rock to provide territories and ample room to swim. Lieutenant Tangs can be aggressive towards other tangs and surgeonfish, but they are rather peaceful towards other types of fish.

    Diet

Although tangs will eat meaty foods, they prefer marine based seaweed and algae which will boosts their immune system, reduce aggression, and improve overall health. To feed them, tie dried seaweed to a rock or use a veggie clip, and feed at least 3 times per week.
