Scopas Tang (Zebrasoma scopas)

The Scopas Tang, otherwise known as the Brown Scopas Tang, are ventrally, brown and yellow, dorsally.  These colors create a gradient that gets darker from front to back. Their bodies are marked with intricate, light blue freckles, and their tales are a solid brown.

 

Juvenile Scopas Tangs are a bit different in comparison to adults. They have larger dorsal and anal fins, and their bodies are a purple-brown coloring.

 

To house the Scopas Tang, it is best to keep them in a 125 gallon tank or larger for room for swimming and live rock for hiding. They are peaceful towards most tankmates, but they tend to be aggressive towards other tangs or surgeonfish, so it is best to keep only one Scopas Tang per tank.

 

Diet

Although tangs will eat meaty foods, they prefer marine based seaweed and algae which will boosts their immune system, reduce aggression, and improve overall health. To feed them, tie dried seaweed to a rock or use a veggie clip, and feed at least 3 times per week.
